A retune papers over a signal fault - it doesn't fix it

When channels disappear after a retune, it usually means the group of channels carrying them was too weak for the tuner to hold on to. That's an issue with the aerial, the cable or an amplifier, not something a retune will solve for long.

We check strength and quality across every multiplex at your TV point. That tells us right away whether it's the aerial group that's wrong, a splitter starving the far outlets, an amplifier on its way out, or interference from a nearby mobile mast - which is turning up more and more across the Thames Valley towns and the Chilterns.

If a filter or a new connector solves it, that's all we'll charge for. If the aerial genuinely needs replacing, we'll show you the reading and explain exactly why.

I've lost BBC and ITV but everything else works - why?

Different channels sit on different multiplexes broadcast at different strengths. Losing one group points to a weak signal on that particular multiplex, not a fault with the television.

Do I need a new aerial to get Freeview HD?

Not usually. HD channels share the same multiplexes as the standard ones, so if your signal quality is good enough already, your current aerial should manage it.

Can I get Freeview in a flat with a shared aerial system?

Yes, and if the whole building's affected we can test and repair the communal system itself.

Would a booster clear up my pixelation?

Sometimes, but not always - boosting a poor signal boosts the noise with it, and where you're close to a transmitter an attenuator is often the right fix instead.
