Berkshire and Oxfordshire service
The closest transmitter isn't always the strongest
Reading, Woodley and Earley generally pull their signal from Hannington, while homes towards Wokingham and Bracknell often do better off Crystal Palace. Up towards the Chilterns and along the Henley-on-Thames side of the county, Oxford frequently wins out. Get the wrong transmitter and you'll be back to a fuzzy picture every time the weather turns.
Rather than working from a postcode chart, we check the signal from your actual roofline and choose the aerial type, gain and mast height to match it. If overhanging trees, a neighbour's extension or foil-lined cladding are blocking the path, we'll tell you plainly and talk you through Freesat as a better route, instead of pushing a bigger aerial that still won't perform.
Every install goes up on double-screened, satellite-grade cable with stainless or galvanised fixings and a properly sealed mast head. That's worth doing everywhere, but it matters most on riverside stretches near the Thames and up on exposed Chiltern ridge properties, where cheap fittings give up within a couple of winters.
What's included
TV aerials done properly, first visit
Wideband and grouped aerials
We choose the type based on what the reading tells us, not on what happens to be in the van that day.
Chimney, wall and loft fixings
Lashed to the chimney, wall-bracketed, or tucked into the loft when the signal and the roof allow it.
Amplifiers set correctly
Boosted where the signal is genuinely weak, or turned down where you're getting too much of it, which is common close to Oxford.
Feeding several TVs
One aerial can serve two rooms or twelve, provided the distribution amp behind it is properly powered.
Repairs and fault-finding
Cracked masts, corroded connectors, water ingress and dead amplifiers get sorted in a single visit wherever possible.
Old aerial removal
We'll take down anything redundant or unsafe and make good the brickwork afterwards.
How it works
TV aerials: from phone call to finished job
- 01
Get in touch
Give us your postcode and describe what's happening on screen. Often we can narrow down the likely cause before the van's even loaded.
- 02
On-site check
Your engineer reads the actual signal at roof height, rather than assuming it matches the house next door.
- 03
Clear price
You'll know the cost before anything is fitted, drilled or climbed.
- 04
Fit and prove it
Once the work's done, every point in the house is checked and the area left as we found it.
Questions
TV aerials questions, answered straight
Anything not covered here, call 0118 968 0881 and speak to an engineer — not a scripted call handler.
How much is a new aerial in Reading?
A standard chimney-mounted job usually falls within a fairly narrow range, and we'll confirm the exact figure once we've checked your signal, before any work starts.
Which transmitter covers my house?
Most of Reading and the Thames Valley towns run off Hannington, the Chilterns and Henley side often prefer Oxford, and homes towards Wokingham and Bracknell tend to favour Crystal Palace. We confirm it on site rather than guessing.
The picture breaks up whenever it's windy or wet - is that the aerial?
More often it's a weak connector or water that's found its way into an older cable, rather than the aerial itself failing. We check the full run and only replace what's actually gone.
Can an aerial go in the loft instead of outside?
Sometimes, if the signal's strong enough and the roof isn't foil-backed. A lot of newer Berkshire estates use foil insulation that kills reception completely, so we'll always check before recommending it.
